Low Air Flow Means You Need AC Repairs

Low Air Flow Means You Need AC Repairs

Low air flow from an air conditioner means bad news.’ Low air flow in your home (especially during summer) will not only leave you pretty annoyed, but hot and uncomfortable too. This is a common problem encountered by many homeowners  and it could be due to a number of reasons. Don’t wait until the problem worsens because you may end up spending a lot of money. The moment you notice low air flow from AC vents, contact a HVAC specialist immediately to do the AC repair.

What Causes Low AC Air Flow

1. Clogged air filters

Debris and dirt that enter the vents may damage your AC’s interior components. While it’s the air filter’s job to trap these debris and protect your unit, with time the filters accumulate so much debris that it gets clogged. This ends up blocking the airflow into the system, and consequently low air flows from vents.

So if your AC runs regularly, ensure you change your air filters at least once per month. If the filters are extremely clogged, they may cause additional problems to your system. Ensure you understand the effective ways to improve indoor air quality and call immediately to consult an HVAC professional in such a scenario.

2. Problem with blower fan

The blower fan’s function is to draw cool air from the return vents and push it through the ductwork and onto the vents that open on the rooms. The blower fan may malfunction due to a number of reasons. The include: failed electric relays, broken belt, dead capacitors, burnt-out motor. An experienced HVAC professional should be able to investigate and find out what caused the blower fan to malfunction.

3. Leaks in the ductwork

Sometimes the ductwork connected to your AC may be reason why there’s weak air flow from vents. It may leak if it’s old or if it wasn’t sealed well. If the ductwork leaks, cool air will escape through those holes and thus you’ll experience low air flow from your air conditioner.

HVAC specialists have the right tools that enable them pinpoint where exactly the leak comes from, and hence seal them.

4. Refrigerant leaks

A refrigerant leak may occur due to various reasons and it’s vital that you call a HVAC specialist immediately.

Normally, your AC requires the right amount of refrigerant in order to cool your home. If the refrigerant leaks, your AC will be overworking to complete the process. Eventually, the refrigerant may run out for good and the leaks may become larger, thus worsening the situation. These leaks are sometimes not that visible, which is why calling a HVAC specialist is the best decision you can make.

Don’t allow low air flow from your air conditioner ruin your comfort at home. If you have issues with your HVAC system and looking for professional air conditioner repair in Hinsdale, don’t hesitate to call Unique Indoor Comfort.
